A JMM Commentary on Male and Female Genital Mutilation and "Cutting".

[ A JMM Commentary: ] American immigrant girls returning to visit their families and relatives in their countries of origin are often persuaded to undergo so-called "genital cutting" while there. This is a benighted, cruel and primitive practice, deserving of the utmost condemnation by all so-called "civilized" societies.

But very surprisingly, Hardly any mention, or condemnation, is ever made in the media of these so-called "civilized" societies, of the equally benighted, cruel and primitive practice of male "genital cutting" -- otherwise known as "Circumcision". For both males and females, genital mutilation is, in reality, a form of semi-castration, leading to a reportedly noticeable loss of sexual pleasure in relations between the sexes. So what is the disconnect here? Why no mention or equal condemnation of male "genital cutting"? Genital mutilation in any form springs from ignorance, superstition, and prehistoric religious practices.
